Knuckles was sitting at the master emerald shrine thinking about Rouge. He didn’t know how to tell her that he loved her. He thought that if he toled her she would reject him. He sighed and closed his eyes. It started to rain, hard. Sighing once again he laid down. a hour later he herd rustling coming from a tree. Knuckles knew it was Rouge.

"Will you go away Bat-girl I’m not in a vary good mood....." Knuckles comely said

he waited a few moments for a reply but he then herd a thud. Knuckles opened his eyes to see Rouge on the ground beaten and bloody. He ran over to her to see if she was ok. When he got over to her he picked her up and held her close. Tears ran down his face when he noticed that she was having a hard time breathing. He gently started to rock her back and forth. Then she opened her eyes to her surprise she saw Knuckles. She snuggled against his chest. A drop of water hit her ear making it twitch. Knuckles noticed this and opened his eyes to see Rouge looking up at him. He smiled and hugged her tightly never wanting to let go.

"I thought I lost you Rouge" he said sadly

"I’d never leave you Knuckie" Rouge said lovingly

"You look terrible, what happened to you?" he asked

"Shadow attacked me because I wouldn’t go out with him, cause I love you." she explained

"I love you too and if he comes after you again.....I will kill him." he said protectively

"You can drop her now or be killed, take your choice wisely." Shadow said

Knuckles put her down gently and swung around punching Shadow in the face. Knuckles and Shadow continued to fight Intel they both fell off the island. Shadow took out his chaos emerald but Knuckles kicked it out of his hands.

"You fool now we are both going to die." Shadow yelled

"At least I can die happy, sense you wont be hurting Rouge ever again." Knuckles said

then something swopped down and grabbed Knuckles out of the sky. Rouge saved Knuckles but left Shadow to fall into the raging ocean.(you know its still raining) once Rouge got to the island she collapsed out of exhaustion.

"Rouge are you ok!" Knuckles yelled

"Yes, you weigh a ton Knuckie." Rouge said panting

Knuckles got up and took Rouge back to the wet shrine. He sat down with her and just held her. They where both socked. Knuckles laid down with her and wrapped his arm around her waist. Rouge placed her head on his chest and hugged him. Thunder crashed startling them. Rouge started to shiver. Knuckles pulled her closer to keep her warm. She continued to shiver.

"Rouge, you better get home before you catch hypothermia." Knuckles said

"No, I don’t want to, what if shadow comes back." Rouge whined

"Don’t be a baby, Rouge just go home I don’t want you getting sick!" Knuckles snapped

"Can you come with me, please Knuckie?" Rouge said

"I would if I could Rouge but I haft to stay here with the stupid master emerald, im sorry" Knuckles said

Rouge started to cry. That made Knuckles feel vary bad. He started to stroke her head trying to sooth her cries.

"Oh Rouge don’t cry your making me feel bad, come on quit crying." Knuckles said sweetly

Rouge soon got up and left. Knuckles just sighed feeling bed for what he just did. He got up and ran to Rouge’s house. When he got there the door was open, he walked in and saw Rouge crying and shivering on her couch, with a blanket around her. Knuckles closed the door and walked over to the couch. He sat down and wrapped his arms around her.

"You came, I thought you had to guard that stupid emerald" Rouge said resting her head on his chest.

"I really don’t care about that emerald, I care about you Rouge." Knuckles said hugging her closer.

"You really mean that Knuckles?" Rouge asked

"Yes, yes I do." Knuckles said

Then he gave her a passionate kiss. Then they laid down to go to sleep.
